Balkan Guča Fest is a cultural project by Creative Resilience Foundation, inspired by the living brass tradition of Guča, Serbia.
The festival carries that energy into an independent Bulgarian cultural format, bringing Bulgarian and Serbian brass ensembles together with folk musicians, bagpipes and drums, dancers, craft practitioners and audiences.
This is more than a concert. It is a celebration of living Balkan cultural heritage.
WHEN TWO MUSICAL WORLDS MEET
At the heart of Balkan Guča Fest are brass ensembles from Bulgaria and Serbia.
Both countries hold strong yet distinct brass traditions. The festival places them side by side — not only to present their own music, but to communicate through it.
Bulgarian and Serbian ensembles perform their own programmes, enter into musical dialogue and create shared performances before the audience.
BATTLE OF THE BRASS
One of the festival's central stage formats is a friendly musical encounter between Bulgarian and Serbian brass ensembles.
Different styles. Different schools. Different energy. One stage.
Competition creates the spectacle. Cultural exchange is the real purpose. The finale brings the musicians together in a shared performance.

The festival's dramaturgy begins with difference and ends with encounter.
Bulgarian and Serbian brass musicians, bagpipes, drums, dancers and ensembles gather for a collective musical finale.
This is the symbol of Balkan Guča Fest: not two cultures standing beside one another, but two cultures creating something new together.

HERITAGE ENDURES WHEN PEOPLE CONTINUE TO MAKE IT.
Balkan Guča Fest includes a dedicated space for traditional crafts and live workshops — pottery, woodcarving, weaving, instrument making and other forms of living craft heritage.
Visitors do not simply view finished objects. They observe the process, speak with makers and take part in creative workshops. This is cultural content, not merely a marketplace.
CULTURE HAS A TASTE.
Balkan food is a natural part of the festival's social and cultural experience.
Selected producers and culinary operators present flavours from Bulgaria, Serbia and the wider Balkans — bread, cheese, traditional products, spreads, sweets and drinks.
Food is not a separate commercial zone. It is part of how people experience Balkan culture together.

The project connects musicians, folk ensembles, craft practitioners, cultural organisations, institutions, producers and audiences. It does not present one culture to another. It creates a space in which both meet as equal partners.

Balkan Guča Fest is conceived as a free-access festival, allowing music, dance, craft and cultural heritage to reach broad audiences regardless of age, social background or previous contact with these cultural forms.
